1. Seek out discount Disney World tickets, budget accommodations convenient to Disney attractions and individually tailored Disney vacation packages before you arrive in Orlando.

2. If possible, plan your Disney World trip during the off-season and you will usually discover significantly lower airfares and hotel/resort rates.

3. If you are staying at a Disney resort, take advantage of complimentary transportation to all Walt Disney World theme parks, water parks and Downtown Disney.

4. Some of the area factory outlet stores such as Orlando Premium Outlets sell Disney merchandise at significantly lower prices than you will find at stores within the Disney World theme parks.

5. Check out some of the free things to do at Disney World such as strolling around Disney’s Boardwalk and Downtown Disney, or hiking through the Disney Wilderness Preserve.

6. Take the family to one of the all-you-can-eat buffets that lie just outside Disney World property such as Bill Wong’s Famous Buffet, Sweet Tomatoes, Boston Lobster Feast, Golden Corral, Ponderosa, Sizzler, Captain Nemo’s Seafood Feast or Angel’s Lobster, Crab & Prime Rib Buffet.

7. If you don’t mind staying off Disney property, you will discover numerous budget motels and hotels (many of which provide complimentary transportation to Disney World theme parks) along Highway 192 in Kissimmee just East of the main entrance to Walt Disney World Resort.

8. Look for free publications such as I Love Orlando magazine, which contain a multitude of discount coupons to Disney area attractions, restaurants and specialty shops.

9. Before you book a hotel or motel, check if they offer guests a complimentary continental or full breakfast each morning.

10. Check out comprehensive online guides to Disney World such as Orlando, Florida Guide for in-depth information on Disney World discount tickets, accommodations and vacation packages.

11. For larger families, reunions or any other get-together at Disney World, it may make better financial sense to look into renting a vacation home, many of which offer enclosed garages, private backyard pools and washer/dryers.

12. If you are visiting one of the Disney World theme parks with young children, don’t forget to bring along a backpack with some snacks or juice boxes.

13. You don’t have to shell out big bucks to stay on Disney World property at one of Disney’s budget all-star resorts – Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, Disney’s All Star Music Resort and Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort (all of which offer complimentary transportation to Disney theme parks and feature onsite food courts).

14. Instead of spending a fortune at a Disney character breakfast, take your kids to Town Square at Main Street, U.S.A. for autograph and photo opportunities with Disney characters.

15. Choose the appropriate Disney World ticket deal based on your family’s length of stay in Orlando and remember not to overdo things – you will want to schedule time for rest and relaxation during your trip.

16. If you choose to eat at the Disney World theme parks, try to make lunch your big meal of the day when prices are considerably lower than for dinner (especially at Epcot’s World Showcase).

17. Whenever you leave one of Disney World’s theme parks, make sure to get your hand stamped. Then after you rest awhile and enjoy a cheaper dinner off site, you can head back to the park after the crowds have thinned out.

18. You may want to schedule your Walt Disney World vacation around one of Disney’s highly acclaimed annual events and festivals, many of which are included with the price of admission such as the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, Star Wars Weekends, Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, Festival of the Seasons, ABC Super Soap Weekend, Festival of the Masters and Holidays Around the World.

19. Carry your own water bottle into the Disney theme park and you can fill it up at any of the abundant water fountains throughout the day.

20. Establish a budget for Disney World souvenirs and stick to your budget (no matter how many cool gifts you see as you stroll through Epcot’s World Showcase!).

21. If you are an AAA or AARP member, take advantage of any special rates or discounts that are available during your Disney World vacation.

22. Many off-site hotels and motels with onsite restaurants offer “Kids Eat Free” deals (one child eats free per paying adult).

23. Purchase such necessities as film and sunscreen before you arrive at Disney World, since prices at the theme parks are more expensive for such items.

24. If you are staying at one of the Disney resorts, take advantage of Disney’s Magical Express, which provides complimentary shuttle service to and from the Orlando International Airport (reservations are required for Disney’s Magical Express).

25. If possible, try to avoid Disney World during holiday weekends and Spring Break when prices are higher and the theme parks are most crowded.

Make sure you get a FastPass for the rides you really want to do. You can only have on at a time, but they do run out. They are free, and the FastPass machine is usually a little ways away from the ride’s line.

Take lots of pictures. They will help you remember your visit and are much cheaper than buying lots of souveniers that you don’t have a use for… like a Mickey Mouse pencil topper… I mean really. You can live without that, right?

If you want to bring souveniers back for friends/neighbors/classmates consider packs of suckers. You can normally find a pack with 5+ suckers in the shape of Mickey’s head. So you can bring some Disney home and it’s way cheaper than hats or t-shirts.

Since you are staying on site you get to use the Extra Magic Hours. That is when the parks are open longer during the day only to guests staying at Disney hotels and a few others. If you have a park hopper ticket spend the day at a different park and then hop to the EMH park for the Extra Magic Hours. The reasoning is that people with base tickets only tend to head to the park with the longest hours, which makes that park more crowded than the others.

On-site guests get free Disney transportation to the Disney parks, but in the event you were planning to drive, you will park for free. My advice is to park early and if you need to go back to the resort during the day take Disney transportation, that way at parks closing your personal vehicle will be closer to the gates.

Make sure you get to the parks early to beat the crowds.

It will be hot, steamy, crowded and likely have daily rain/thunderstorms. Dress cool, but make sure to wear gym shoes… they’re better on your feet and legs. Bring Tylenol or something to combat aches and headaches. And, buy a poncho from Target (99c there), Wal-Mart wherever and carry it in with you. It doesn’t rain long, but it’s often a downpour for a little while. Disney’s ponchos are like $5-$10 which adds up.

Take time to relax. It is Disney which means there is a lot to do there, but it is still a vacation. Try and plan at least a day or two to just lounge around the pools, head to Downtown Disney (great in the evenings and does not waste a park admission day).

Hope this helps and it wasn’t too much. Have FUN!!

The Animated Wonders Of Disney Movies

Even though Disney has produced myriad movies, it is more popular for its animated ones. After starting the animated journey with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in the winter of 1937, Disney movies have not looked back. One can obtain a list of more than 150 animated Disney movies that have been produced and distributed to add to the joy of children across the world.

After a certain age, kids grow out of Sesame Street, Tellytubbies and BooBaahs. At this time the next level of entertainment that attracts them generally are the Disney movies that appeal to a slightly older age group. The great thing about these movies, which has probably led to the huge popularity of the Disney movies, is the fact that they appeal to adults and children alike. A mother does not mind sitting through a Disney movie with her child but an episode of Tellytubbies can be wearisome.

To the uninitiated, it may be a surprise that each Disney movie comes accompanied with a Disney movie book. These books are published under the Mouse Works banner and contain a simple version of the story. This can help in encouraging children to not only see the Disney movies but also to read books, which hopefully will extend to other forms of reading at some time.

Though the company is proud of all its Disney movie productions, some of them have attained the stature of classics based on their popularity. Abound with simple, yet meaningful songs these Disney movies can expose the child to emotions, morals and ways of the world while telling a story.

Toddlers seem to enjoy the light evilness of some of the characters like the witch in Snow White and Cruella De Vil in the 101 Dalmations. Alternately, some of the most endearing characters that Disney movies have created are Tramp in The Lady and the Tramp and the Beast in Beauty and the Beast. But most of the leading characters in Disney movies inspire awe and amazement aided by the color, grandeur and dazzle.

Some of the Disney movies that have become all time favorites of most kids are The Lion King, Toy Story, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book, The little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, Lady and the Tramp, Cinderella and of course Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Some of the less known but equally enticing Disney movies are the sequels to the Lion King, Dumbo, Lilo and Stitch, Pooh and Kim Possible series.

In spite of the high levels of endearment that the Disney movies enjoy among most people, there are rumors galore about how there are countless hidden references to perverted things in the animated movies. The most known references are made to the tower on the cover of The Little Mermaid that resembles the male genitalia, the apparent erection of the priest in the wedding scene of the same movie and the dust taking the form of the word sex in The Lion King.

Hearsay has it that Donald Duck has used vulgar words umpteen times during angry outbreaks. Some opine that these subtle references have become a tradition at the Disney studios. This tradition started due to the fact that Walt Disney did not assign relevant credits to the creative animators. These animators, then, took to including hidden codes in the animation scenes to get back. One such example is that of the shorts that Goofy wears.

If you look close enough, you will probably see names of artists written on these shorts. Though the given instance seems possible, the inclusion of debauchery in the animated Disney movies is debatable and it remains a question as to whether it is a fact or the Rorschach effect.

Looking for an old Disney World/Land commercial, where can I find it???

I am looking for an old commercial that used to advertise Disney World/Land back in the 80′s. I used to see this commercial at the end of the old live action Disney movies when they were popular on VHS. I remember the commercial featuring the Monorail system and mostly showed the Magic Kingdom and I believe this was before MGM Studios Theme Park.
